Divine Cinnamon Hearts
Great old-fashioned-tasting cookies. Cinnamon is always a safe bet during the Christmas season.
Makes 20–30
½ cup sugar
14 tablespoons butter
about 1 cups flour
about 1 cup vanilla sauce mix (1 packet makes 7 portions)
For Decoration
1 egg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
Mix the sugar and butter to a white, light batter—an electric whisk is great for this. Add flour and vanilla sauce mix and knead to a smooth dough. Leave in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Roll out to a thin layer, about -¼ inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to make heart shapes. Paint over the shapes with whipped egg. Mix the cinnamon and sugar and dip the cookies in the mixture. Place on a baking paper-covered pan and bake at 392°F for 6 to 8 minutes or until the cookies are a nice color.
