Imagine for a moment clouds frozen with bated breath

hear the answers in the dead leaves underfoot the newness

in the (y)ear the questions in groved trees the whispers

of a campus mo(u)rning in fragile wonder if Greathouse feels the quiet in abandoned apartments the hope in airy lecture halls if Godfrey

books long for caress for fingers tapping dancing with ink to muted music;

a campus longing for the song of voices: professors breaking down into digestible little tidbits big ideas about derivatives space language, students pondering questions of internships and scholarships, discussing duality of self and Dua Lipa

in the same breath, finding truths in being fearless (Taylor’s Version); a campus hearing

the hum of turnover of change in the air ike trees once bare, clothed once more

like majors shifting in sophomore year and junior year and (sometimes) once more and telling (disappointed) family like trainees ho went from days spent in exam-ed battle to home back once more like those whose worlds are falling apart, no longer hometown heroes or first-year victors once more like the ones who can’t recognize the face in the mirror, can’t even see the smile once more like friends stuffed with secrets and sadness and confessions and cotton reunited once more like two bees buzzing past each other three four five times (almost) never meeting; imagine for a moment the redoing renewing and reinventing of intros of faces whose lines and shapes are to be memorized again the joy in the return of names whose letters are old friends; knowing the legs the torsos that fill the excited quad; seeing a flower bud springing begging for sunlight.
