Elizabeth was undergoing a world of sensations!

Never before had she considered Mr. Dixon’s feelings for her sister, and the depth that it had reached. And now she was, and she wondered how Kitty had endured the whole situation for so long. After all, she and Dixon were friends. Therefore, for that to happen, and for the transition from friend to jilted lover to occur, Kitty would have been in agony. It took years, and now she was beginning to understand a little more of what her little sister had undergone.

And for Mr. Dixon to confess all that he did, it took courage. She did wish that he would recover, for his own sake, but she knew that it would never happen. Kitty might, perhaps, had been the first woman that he proposed to, or maybe even be the first woman that he was in love enough to do so. In those early days of love, no one ever fully forgets their first burst of intense affection.

It was a beautiful time.

It was also a terrifying time.

When Elizabeth heard the shooting, she moved around the house, and went to the fields. She found Mr. Darcy shooting with Mr. Bingley and her father.

As Mr. Darcy shot a bird and it fell to the earth, he sensed her presence.

Turning around, he saw her as she was standing a little way from him, smiling.

“There’s my wicked wife,” he noted.

“Yes, I just came back from purchasing a cauldron. It’s lovely. Perfect shade of black.”

“There’s more than one shade of black?”

“Of course,” she counted, “there’s pitch black, midnight black, cat black, and dark black. Didn’t you know that?”

“No.”

“Oh, well I am happy that you are now better informed.”

He laughed.

“Now come on, you three,” she said as Mr. Bingley and her father noticed her. “It’s time to visit that studious sister of mine.”
