I am not sure if I would say a half marathon is not glamorous, but it’s definitely not as well known or as aspirational a full marathon. But running a half marathon is a great achievement in itself and even though 21.1km in distance is doable by most people, as long as they give themselves enough time and are willing to train consistently.

Training for and racing a half marathon has a number of benefits including the following:

They are usually cheaper than a full marathon, and there are usually a lot more races to choose from.

Training for a half marathon is a great way to help you start running longer distances.

A half marathon is something most people can do. You might even want to walk your first race and there is a good chance you will make it easily and under the cutoff times.

Training for a half marathon will take up less time than training for a marathon.

Training for and racing a half marathon will not leave you as sore and you will be able to recover a lot easier than training for a marathon.
