Lily stepped off the boat, back onto the dock on the bay at Freeport, with Xander at her side. Megan’s body was being taken to the coroner’s, and hopefully, soon they would have a cause of death. Although with all the girls, it seemed to be drowning. The only thing that stood out to Lily were the ligature marks—however, they were too faint to suggest the girls had been strangled. Still, it raised a question: why were they even there? She hoped the coroner would get some answers.

For now, she wanted to track down that missing boat part. They made their way toward their rental house and went in through the sliding back door.

“Where should we go?” Xander asked. Lily had gone over to her desk, where her computer sat with the computer case open underneath it. She quickly fired up her computer, and after some time, went to Google and searched it, searching for any sites that sold boat parts and updates on the Freeport yacht club. Xander stood next to her and looked down at the screen while she searched.

Megan’s yacht was US made. In her research, Lily discovered that there were parts on the boat that weren’t manufactured—or even included—on boats that came from the Bahamas. So, if the piece was missing, why take it?

She heard Xander sigh and looked over to see that he had leaned back against the wall and had closed his eyes, breathing in deeply through his nose and letting it out slowly. She turned her attention back to her computer, scrolling down until she found a number for the Freeport yacht club.

“Let’s call,” she said, clicking on the number. The phone rang three times before it was picked up.

“Freeport yacht club.”

“Hi, my name is Agent Lily Dawn of the FBI,” she said, “ We’re trying to track down information on a piece that may have been stolen from a local yacht.”

The man on the other end sighed. “Have you notified the police?” He asked.

“Yes,” Lily said. “They’re investigating it alongside us.”

“Well, tell me about the part,” said the man.

“It came from the underside of a hatch door. There were meant to be two of them, but one was missing.”

“Ah, yeah, it sounds like that would help keep the door shut. A rare piece over here. It could be worth something to the right bidder, although without its twin, I doubt it’s worth much.”

Even odder that it would be missing, Lily thought. Maybe whoever took it wanted to sell it anyway.

“Thank you. Has anyone come in with a part such as this?”

“Not at all, ma’am, and we don’t sell used parts here.”

“Do you know where we might find someone who does?”

“Well . . .” The man cleared his throat, suddenly sounding uneasy. “I will say, there’s a little island just off the coast—it’s called Eagle Eye.”

Eagle Eye. Lily had never heard of it.

“There are some guys there who work on boats, and it’s sort of an under the table thing,” said the man. “They are a bit of a seedy bunch, so I would be careful going in there.
