This area constituted a serious gap in my larger book, The Holy Spirit (2013). Yet a writer from the West must tread very carefully here. Either he or she is accused of neglecting a vital area, or the writer may well be accused of writing “from the outside,” as a white Westerner, located in the Northern Hemisphere. Hence we attempt simply to describe the explosion of Pentecostalism as it has been over the last twenty years, and to correct some assumptions about its origins in the two-thirds world.26
