Spell for Psychic Protection
Set some rowan berries burning as incense, or use essential oils of thyme and rosemary in an essential oil burner. Cast a circle as usual, requesting the presence of elemental spirits and invoking the deities.
Say, âI am here to cast a spell of protection for myself, against any ill-will or psychic negativity.â Use the wraith power chant or something similar, and dance or spin deosil. Direct the power into a fossil with your wand or your hand, and also your strongly held intention, as previously described. Remember, âEnergy follows thoughtâ is a maxim for all workers of magic. Our psychic energy flows in the direction of those things about which we think, especially if there is a strong desire that it should do so.
Your fossil may be of any kind and should be placed in a cauldron or bowl, at the circleâs centre, from the start of the rite. Pick it up and hold it in your cupped hands. Say something like this:
Spirit in the fossil stone,
You show life from long ago.
In your house of memory,
You hold a ghost of plant and bone.
Lifeâs pattern and a seed thatâs sown.
I link your power with my own.
Pause, and feel the same life force contained in the stone flowing also within your own life, in your body. The same evolutionary Earth power that shaped the creatures or plants now fossilized is also in your own blood and bones, heart and soul, and unfolding life story. You, like any life form, are a part of the Earthâs own body and spirit, expressing your own small measure of Mother Earthâs or the Horned Godâs own creativity. This is an awesome gift â and power. It is the power of evolution itself, in Earth, to survive, adapt, create, learn and know. This power far transcends all petty attacks on your spirit or on your choices. Experience yourself as aligned with this power, as a child of the Earth, who is priest or priestess of a creative destiny.
Now place the fossil upon your heart, in recognition of this connection as fact. Say:
By the blessings of the Earth, our Mother,
And of the Horned God, natureâs guardian,
I am at one with the free will bestowed
Upon me before worlds were made.
Thus, I choose freely,
Who has the best right to choose,
About my own destiny.
And, as firmly as the life pattern
Is set in this fossil,
So shall be set the best fate
That can be mine,
According to my own choices.
This shall prevail
Against abuse or spite,
Manipulation or any evil
By day or night.
Touch the fossil to a beach pebble or a piece of limestone or slate, or whatever the local stone happens to be in your area. Say:
I draw my lifeâs pattern here [indicating the stone, not the fossil]. I draw with the power that is Earthâs magic and creativity. Nothing shall change this pattern, unless to improve it. I draw my destiny [here, name your intentions for the motifs of your future fife, e.g., âA life of adventure and joy, in which
