Snowflake's role-based access control security model allows security administrators to configure object security at a role level. Using role-based security, we have set up a development database and production database segregated from each other in terms of access. The DBA user setup for the development database has full access to the development database but has no access to the production database. Since we have given full privileges to the DBA user, they can create additional schemas and other objects under the development database. Through this segregation and role assignment, you can free up your SYSADMIN users from development environment maintenance and delegate that function to specific users designated as DBAs for development environments.
Using the same principle, you can set up several different environments, such as test, system integration testing, pre-production, and so on, and manage them independently through different roles and privileges.
