Grumbling, Hall accepted the quest. He looked to the others, who all nodded that they received it as well. He hoped that also applied to Sabine, who was still locked up downstairs. Or Hall thought she was down there. Brient hadn’t said and they hadn’t seen or heard her.

Brient smiled, taking the writ and placing it on top of the stack which he quickly returned to the desk drawer.

“Good, good,” he said. His smile was large. “I do apologize about how I got you here,” he added.

None of them responded.

“Where do we start?” Hall asked.

“The Door Knockers usually stayed away from the higher end shops in the Nobles Square,” Brient said. “Part of the arrangement,” he added with a grimace. Hall had thought the Sergeant to be okay with the agreement between the Guild and the city, but apparently, he wasn’t. “The Silver Blades have been starting in that territory, where the Knockers weren’t. This, of course, is making the Knockers angry. Understandably. They view it as a violation of the agreement. Which it is.” Brient shrugged. A ‘what are you going to do’ gesture, which was different from his other shrugs. The man could communicate books with just his shrugs.

Hall just shook his head. It was complicated, and he really didn’t need to know the particulars. He just wanted to know where to find the Silver Blades so he could get this quest over with. That Writ from Brient would help a lot with the rebuilding of Skara Brae.

“The Blades have their enforcers out hitting those shops, which is angering the nobles and the merchants. They had protection from the Knockers and none from the Blades. At least, not yet. I figure that’s the end goal of whoever is in charge of the Blades. Anyway, the Blades have their enforcers out in the Square. I’d start there.”

Sergeant Brient has tasked you with stopping the upcoming Guild war by eliminating the

newcomer Silver Blades Guild. He has given you a probable location for a Silver Blades

operation. He suggests you start your hunt there.
