Kayle

When as I saw my house, I knew that my time with Trigger was coming to an end today. My father had only allowed him to stay for just a little while. A ping from a phone sounded out, and Trigger fished his out of his pocket. His body slumped beside me and he glanced over at me with a sad grin.

We all filed out of the Jeeps and onto the lawn, where my father and uncle talked to the soldiers in the vehicles. Trigger brought me over to his Jag, his hands going to the sides of my face and bringing a blush to my cheeks. He always played it safe when around my dad, but the way he gazed into my eyes made me want him even now.

“Sweetness, I have to head out. My manager needs to speak with me, Conor, and Mitch. But I promise that I’ll be back if you want me to.”

“You know I always want you beside me. Text me when you finish. I want you to spend the night with me tonight,” I told him. I didn’t feel comfortable with my uncle in the house, even though my dad forbade Trigger to stay the night. My need for him was something I was willing to get into trouble for.

“Of course, sweetness,” Trigger tilted my face to his, and the rush of him possibly kissing me pooled between my thighs. I knew he smelled it when his eyes began to glow. The kiss he placed on my forehead left a scorching flame to burn until I laid my eyes back on him.

Blushing, I glanced up into his beautiful eyes. He smiled at me and got into the Jag, winked at me, and shut the door before backing the glistening blue car out of the driveway and speeding away. I stood there until I couldn’t see his car any longer.

Turning to go into the house, Private Hixson came up and stopped me on the porch. I swear he just couldn’t take the hint. Groaning, I went around him, but he followed me into the house and the living room. Rounding on him, I crossed my arms, my body shaking with anger. “What do you want this time? Apparently, the words ‘we are just friends’ means nothing to you.”

“Kayle, just let me talk. I won’t bother you again. I hope that we can remain friends. I want you to know that if he doesn’t continue to make you happy, that I will kill him.” The stoic expression on his face never faltered as he nodded to me, turned, and walked back out of the house.

Three days had passed since my uncle had come to visit, and Trigger had been staying the night with me. Unbeknownst to my father and uncle, of course. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right ever since I saw my science teacher at the lab. Things had been quiet for the most part. My uncle had been in and out of the house, mainly with my father.
