We waited in the jungle, our muscles tensed. We were squatting down, trying to stay out of view. Inspector Lestrade wasn’t very good at squatting and would have fallen over multiple times if not for Eliza and Wendy’s help. Mr Lee looked like he was trying to remember something but didn’t say anything. Jimmy grinned at a bug on the ground, while Nazhar stared at his map. Watson stood stock still, trying very hard not to get any mud on himself while staying as low to the ground as possible.

“There’s no one inside.” Corporal Boey suddenly appeared from behind us. Mr Lee toppled over, getting mud on his pants.

“Was there anything in there?” I asked.

“Yes, but…well, you’re going to want to take a look.”

I was surprised yet again. Perhaps Corporal Boey was coming around after all!

We followed the Corporal as she led us to an unlocked door. There was a broken medium-sized lock on the ground. It looked quite new in comparison to the rest of the building.

“How-fortunate-you-found-an-already-unlocked-door-Corporal,” Watson said.

She smiled slightly and gave him a conspiratorial look. “Yes, quite fortunate.”

Wendy and Inspector Lestrade gasped when we entered.

There were rows upon rows of Parrot Ink-branded boxes, stacked high throughout the storage facility. Almost the entire room was filled with my sister’s greatest weakness.

“So...much...stationery.” Wendy clutched at her chest. Inspector Lestrade copied her action. Mr Lee looked extremely confused.

“Why is there a Parrot Ink warehouse out here in the middle of nowhere?” Eliza asked. She was already walking around, inspecting the cartons more closely but not touching anything. She held her mobile phone in her left hand.

“Who cares!” Wendy ran to the nearest box and opened it, the Inspector trailing at her heels.

“No! Wait!” Corporal Boey yelled.

My sister squealed, totally oblivious. “It’s next year’s collection, and I get to see it first!

She pulled out a bunch of diaries and calendars from the box. “They won’t reveal these designs until later in the year! I’m so lucky!”

Eliza sighed. “Wendy, maybe we shouldn’t be randomly opening boxes—”

“This one has pens!” Jimmy said, cutting our friend off.

“New pens?!” Wendy ran over to Jimmy.

“Washi tapes in this one,” Inspector Lestrade said, opening another box. “Oh, all the new costumes I could make! I shiver in excitement!”

“Inspector!” Corporal Boey snapped.

“More sandwiches?” she asked, not even looking at the other police officer.

Corporal Boey clenched her jaw. “We don’t have a warrant, Inspector. We can’t go around opening these boxes without reasonable cause.”

“I-think-I-have-found-your-reasonable-cause,” Watson said.

Corporal Boey, Mr Lee and I walked to Watson, leaving Eliza and Nazhar to make sure the rest didn’t cause too much trouble. When we reached him, we saw an antique clock on the ground. It was Mr Lee’s turn to gasp.

“There-might-be-more-of-these-kinds-of-things-inside-some-of-these-boxes,” Watson said. “This-one-specifically.”

“How fortunate you found that just lying around,” Corporal Boey said with a smirk.

He gave her a one-eyed conspiratorial look. “Yes-quite-fortunate.”

Mr Lee made to grab one of the other boxes but froze at the look the Corporal gave him. She reached over and opened the box Watson had indicated, and we saw many more antique clocks inside.
