Levin planted his elbows on his desk and dropped his head into his hands. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d slept for more than an hour or two before paranoia had him reaching for the gun under his pillow and lurching from bed to check the security camera feeds that were even now playing across his laptop screen.

He flipped open the notebook he kept on him at all times. Fifteen of the eighteen names he’d scrawled in it had been crossed out. High-ranking members of his own organization or their rivals were dwindling—some eliminated, some flipped to informants and removed to Jordan’s friend JRad for safe keeping, and some buried beneath a mountain of intel on their crimes so they would never see light outside of prison for the rest of their lives, even if they didn’t know it yet.

Those three remaining, though… He tapped his gold pen on the notebook. One of them was on to him. He hadn’t been able to figure out which one yet, and continuing to dig for evidence or a chance to take them out got riskier with every passing day and every move that he made to bring them down.

It was a miracle he hadn’t already been caught and executed.

His phone buzzed in his pocket. He might have ignored it if it hadn’t happened three times in rapid succession. Nothing good ever came of multiple messages in a row. “Shit.”

Levin fished the device from the pocket of his dress pants and entered his passcode. When the screen unlocked, he gasped, knocked backward so that his shoulders hit the fancy chair behind him. His legs spread wider automatically as he zoomed in on the picture of Aven in Konstantin’s arms, his guy wearing a goofy grin Levin wasn’t sure he’d ever seen before as she stared adoringly at him.

Lethargy drained from his soul. Everything he’d been through had been worth it if Konstantin, and Aven, were protected and content. Prized by each other and the support system surrounding them. He stroked his finger along the image before opening the next one.

“Damn,” he muttered to himself as he lowered one hand to his stiffening cock and rubbed the ache in his balls.

Each detail, from Kon’s hand splayed on Aven’s cute ass to the hint of tongue he spied between their parted lips, turned him on more than the last and reminded him of his purpose.

He tapped out a response to James. Thanks for looking out for them.

It was only half a second later when the guy responded. Not jealous?!

Levin must have been more exhausted than he realized because he didn’t even lie. Just horny.

James sent a laughing emoji. Then… They’re right here, waiting for you. What’s taking so long?

Levin looked back at the notebook before slamming it shut on his desk. Job’s not done.

They miss you. Konstantin especially. Push him away hard enough and you might lose him.

Probably for the best. I’m not making friends out here, unlike him.

It’s not. Not good for him. Trust me.
