“Angel Girl! What’s up?” Cameron said into the screen.

I stared back at him. “I have to go back to the tunnel.”

“You’re not doing that,” said Teddy.

“I’m not—” Parker started.

“Shh…,” said Teila.

“You read the book, right?” asked Jasmine.

Teddy looked surprised. “What book?”

I squinted at Jasmine and tightened my lips, giving her my ‘hush’ look.

“You do know we all can see that expression, right?” asked Teila.

“What happened, Sheena?” asked Justin.

“It’s just a book we got at the library,” I said. “Look, I need to know everything that happened to the kids that were in that tunnel and why. It’s the only way to stop Phoenix. He has Logan.”

“What?” they all exclaimed.

“How do you know that?” asked Teddy.

“It’s true,” said Chana.

They all spoke at the same time and then noticed I was quiet. “What’s up, Sheena? I mean besides the obvious,” Corey asked.

“I wanted to tell you guys—uh…” I bit my lip. “This is getting dangerous. It’s my problem, my journey, my assignment. And after Bradly’s injury, I don’t want to be remembered as the girl who let things happen to her friends.”

“‘Remembered?’ Is she going somewhere? Why did she say that?” asked Justin.

I ignored him. “I don’t know what is going to happen from here, or where it will take me. I’m just saying.”

“Listen, wherever this whole thing takes us, we’re willing to go,” said Cameron. “This is no longer the Sheena Meyer story, the gleamer story, or the city of gleamers story. It is all of our stories. We have a destiny to do this together. Our. Story.”

“Yeah,” everyone repeated.

I grinned. “You guys…”

“Aww… Look at her. She’s going to cry,” Chana teased.

“Teddy, what’s up, man? You’re not saying anything,” said Corey.

Teddy cleared his throat. “It’s just that—I mean, I don’t want to throw a blanket of gloom over your—”

“He’s a killjoy,” said Parker.

“Way to spoil the moment, big head,” said Chana.

“No, listen,” Teddy replied. “I’m just saying that all sounds good. But I think we should leave Sheena out of it so she stays safe. You know, like we planned.”

Ariel covered her mouth. Her eyes were huge, like they were about to pop.

“Like you planned?” I asked. “What are you talking about?”

Teddy lifted his chin. “Keeping you safe, like I said.”

“Meaning?”

Teddy’s screen went black.

“Come back here, Teddy!” I shouted.

He reappeared with a big dumb grin.

“What are you guys up to?” I asked.

“Yo, check this out,” said Corey. “What if we can get to Phoenix?”

“Are you crazy? How?” asked Parker.

I guessed they hadn’t let him in on their plan. Probably because he was most likely to let it slip out.

“Set a trap,” Corey replied. “Cameron—”

Here we go again. “What’s he talking about, Cameron?”

“Dude!” Cameron grabbed the top of his baseball cap. “You weren’t supposed to bring that up yet.”

Justin sighed. “Just tell her.”

I nodded. “Yeah, just tell me.”

“Unbelievable,” Cameron said. His hands fell from his head as if someone had pushed them away. “You know that kid who took a picture of you in detention?”

“Yeah…”

“He’s kind of working with us.”

“Working with you on what?” I demanded.
