Rain was coming in out of the east as Norman met Morgan. They were standing in Morgan’s garage as it began to pour down. Norman closed the door, took a slim cigar out of his pocket, stuck it between his teeth, and narrowed his schizoid eyes as he pulled a match from a Sloppy Joe’s book.

‘So, what’s the deal with the journalist?’ Morgan said.

‘It’s occurred to me that it’s not just him we need to worry about. There’s a young woman by the name of Patty who’s riding around with him.’

‘You want me to take them out?’

‘I want you to find out how much they know.’

‘’Bout us?’

‘About the whole deal. I want you to abduct them and do what you’re good at.’

‘I’ll need someone with me.’

‘Who do you want?’

‘Burt.’

‘You also need to find out who they’ve told.’

‘Then kill ’em.’

‘Then kill them.’
