Design Phase

As per Figure 12, the next phase, design, revolves around key deliverables for all three solution areas (SAP Ariba Invoice Management, SAP Ariba Discount Management, and SAP AribaPay). To start, SAP Ariba and/or consulting partners propose the configuration of any or all of the three aforementioned SAP Ariba solutions, based on the requirements gathered and follow-on design sessions, and also provide configuration documents. The customer then defines any custom interfaces to third-party systems for either master data, transactions, or both. Finally, SAP Ariba delivery and/or consulting partners work in tandem with the customer to define the configurations and document the holistic design.

In the design phase for SAP Ariba Invoice Automation and SAP Ariba Invoice Professional, you are required to both create rule definitions based on the requirements gathered in the previous phase and to perform workflow build out. To realize certain checks or approvals, the most elegant option may not be to import the requirements verbatim into the system as defined in the requirements. Achieving the rules and workflow requirement goals in an efficient, elegant manner should be the overarching goal of this phase.
