Chapter Twenty-Four

MATT

Sam’s breaths were coming in a deep and steady rhythm which told me she was already asleep. I couldn’t quite manage the same as my mind was ticking over with thoughts about what she’d just done for me and how intimate we’d become from the one sexual encounter. No girl had ever played with my ass before. I’ll admit, for a split second, I worried Sam was only doing it because we’d spoken about Will, and maybe she thought if she did things he’d do, I wouldn’t want him. As she carried on without hesitation and seemingly working with experience, I realized she was doing something she wanted to do. Maybe even something she craved and needed too.

It shouldn’t surprise me because every day I spent with her, I felt she was more and more perfect, like she was made for me.

It was only an hour later that I heard my phone beep, and I reached over to silence it before it woke up Sam. Seeing an email from Gary, I clicked the notification to open it and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was an itinerary for Al, Kat, and Will’s flights. They’d be here in two days. The guy worked quickly, I’d give him that.

If I’d read it earlier in the night, I would’ve been terrified, but after what Sam and I had just done, I felt like I could get through it. I could face my first love and maybe manage to mend a friendship while I was at it.

Feeling more at peace than I had in a long time, I placed my phone back on the side table after clicking it to silent and pulled Sam tighter into my arms. I was soon drifting off to sleep with the feel of her heart beating beneath my palm.
