While Alessio’s pouring us each a brandy, Reno phones his brother Dante and puts him on speaker.

“We’re all here. What have you got, brother?” Reno asks, taking the glass from Alessio.

“We finally got a solid hit. Raffaele coming into the country gave us a trail. I hacked into the airport feed and found Raffaele going through customs. He’s going by Rafe Collins. It seems that Rafe’s staying at the Waldorf. The entire floor is reserved, so I’m thinking he’s got an army of men guarding his room, the floor, and probably every exit,” Dante says. His tone says that he’s hyped about finally being able to unravel some information.

“At least we know where the snake is staying,” Alessio grits out.

“There’s more. I ran with the name Collins and found a corporation with the same name. Collins Imports Incorporated. Website’s legit, taxes are up to date, it’s on the up-and-up with a board of directors and everything. There’s a shit ton of layers, but once you peel the onion to the core, you get Rafe Collins, aka Raffaele Di Morte. He’s put down roots in Philadelphia, and when I dug a little more, I found that he’s gotten rid of all the competition in his city and is the only player. He runs the drugs, guns, and pussy,” Dante finishes.

Marco swears, his face red, and slams his fist on the table. “How the fuck did he dig into the States right under all our noses?”

“Great question,” I say. “A better question is what’s Raffaele’s problem with us?”

“I might be able to shed some light on that too. It’s gonna sound crazy,” Dante warns.

“Spit it out,” Reno orders.

“I kept wondering why Raffaele made his appearance at a wedding. He didn’t harm Valentina, and he very easily could have. So, it seems that a member of La Famiglia basically stole a bride right from Raffaele’s family, before she made it to the altar,” Dante says.

“Tell us something we don’t know.” Reno hurries him along.

“Did you know that Gino Cinelli of Nostra Casa eloped with a woman who intended to marry Raffaele’s uncle?”

“Christ!” I exclaim.

“Oh, yeah! It gets better. Il Destino had promised a daughter to Raffaele’s brother. The marriage never happened, and the girl disappeared. Her father was found two weeks later, tortured to death. Vito Manille was going to leave Il Destino, it would seem, but his daughter refused to leave. Milana has never been found. If she’s alive, she’s done a damn fine job of hiding herself away,” Dante finishes.

“He’s pissed because his family was wronged without restitution,” I say. “That’s why he came to the church.”

“Why didn’t he take Valentina if he wanted revenge for the men left without a bride?” Reno asks.

“Maybe Valentina is not the one he wants,” Alessio adds.

“Then who?” Marco lets out a sigh of relief. “I’m glad that Grazia is married and I have no other daughters.”

“There’s no way I’m promising Simona to a madman. She’s only four years old,” Reno spits out.

“Let me give you something else to think about,” Dante interrupts.
