Managing Director, Modprex

For many reasons, organizations build a process architecture and integrate it to other architectures, such as those for strategy, in-formation, rules, and others. Here, my aim is to focus on how process architecture helps organizations in the area of process modeling and improvement.

Process modeling is a time-intensive task, and most organizations do not gain significant benefit from this effort—often be-cause they lack a process architecture.

The first problem caused by the absence of such an architecture is that the organization lacks a connection between the strategy view and the processes that execute it. For employees, it is important to be able to trace how the processes in which they are involved realize organizational objectives. This helps them to better understand the role they play in achieving the organization’s strategy, and how can they contribute to this achievement. On the other hand, having such a link helps the organization to prioritize process improvement and modeling initiatives based on the strategic impact of those processes. In addition, this link between strategy and the process architecture helps to clarify the impact of the strategy on the organization’s processes, and how process performance impacts the strategy.
