You have a tendency, when things are going well for you, to interrupt the flow of events and to turn away from it negatively. When you have slipped back far enough you again reverse yourself and attempt to regain what you purposefully let go. This line is the line of self-defeatism – not in extremis, but the defeatism of constant backsliding, the defeatism of fear of climax, fear of contemplation, fear of attainment. You remain guiltless because the impulse does not stem from inhumane ideals and harms no one but yourself.
