Rutabaga, Ham, and Potato Bake
1 medium rutabaga, peeled and sliced into ¼-inch rounds
2 medium red potatoes, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
1 lb smoked boneless ham, sliced ¼ inch thick
â cup melted butter
½ tsp dried basil
1 cup grated jersey milk Gouda (or regular Gouda)
Rutabaga, Ham, and Potato Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Place the rutabaga, potatoes, ham, butter, and basil in a large mixing bowl and toss to combine. Transfer to a 9 Ã 9-inch baking dish and pour the winter-spiced cream over top. Top with the cheese.
Bake for 45 minutes. At this point, the contents of the dish should be tenderâcheck by piercing with a knife. If the knife slides in easily, it is cooked through. If not, continue to bake for a few more minutes.
Turn the oven temperature to broil and cook until the top of the dish turns golden brown and bubbly, 4â5 minutes. Let cool for several minutes before serving. Leftovers can be stored in a sealed container for up to 1 week.
