One to One (1:1): This means both sides of tables have unique fields. See the following image for the one-to-one relationship:

For example, this is less often used. Imagine you have two tables that contain an equal number of rows, the same data with an ID column and having different attributes. In such a case, you need to extend one table with the second table attribute.

Many to Many (*:*): This kind of relationship has both sides with more than one unique value. See the following image for many-to-many relationship:
