Flowerpot

Flower Pot

The obvious choice for a mosaic is a terra cotta flowerpot. If this pot is going to be placed inside with a silk plant or in a setting where water is not a factor, then the pot does not need to be pretreated. If this pot is going to be used with a real plant indoors, then the interior of the pot will need to be treated with a water-barrier spray. There are various waterproofing mediums on the market. If the pot is going to be used outside, then an exterior plaster compound will need to be used. And once it’s dried, it will need to be treated with an exterior varnish.

To simplify the process, the pot shown here will be an indoor pot without the real plant. You could use the pot for a topiary decoration or as a place to store utensils, pencils, or odds and ends.
