Chapter 18

Raven

I’m feeling extremely off-kilter.

The boys have done nothing but dote on me this last week, hand and fucking foot. I’ve gotten a few orgasms out of the deal from River, denied pleasure by Pierce, and Phoenix has taken care of me after every single encounter.

Today, however, has all three of them tense and serious in a way I haven’t seen before–even Pierce.

I don’t know what’s going on tonight, only I’m to dress up for a party and be ready to let loose. River’s words.

It’s hard to do that, however, when all the boys look like they’re about to go to fucking war. They think I don’t see the guns on their backs or the knives in their boots? It’s comical they think I’m that dense.

I shake my head and finish curling my hair, letting the red locks fall down along my shoulders and back. Setting the curling iron down, I stare into the mirror at my smoky eyes, my black lips, and the skin-tight black leather dress I chose for the night. It’s strapless and pushes my tits up far past their usual spot.

I shrug, letting a small smile befall my lips as I begin to turn toward the bathroom door, but I’m shocked when Pierce bursts through the door, forcing it to slam against the wall. It’s almost embarrassing how far I jump, my hip slamming against the counter corner and I hiss in pain, gripping for it.

Pierce grips my throat, leaning me backward so my back is bowed over the sink as he stares into my eyes. “You have rules tonight, little bird. Are you listening?’

I swallow and nod, my eyelids fluttering as I try to keep the tears at bay. He’s never scared me until this year. He’s never shown anger towards me, so I’m always thrown off by his tantrums. His forceful hands.

He inhales, eyes and nostrils flaring as he stares me down. “River is the person you listen to the most today, got me? You follow him like a lonesome little puppy and you don’t let him out of your sight. Phoenix will be at your six at all times, so don’t think now is the time for you to run. You don’t look at or touch another man besides my boys, got it?” He jostles me until I dip my head, then leans in to press a firm kiss on my lips. This is something he’s been doing since we kissed only a week ago. He’s claiming me and continuing to possess me in ways I don’t wish to divulge.

I hate myself at this moment, but, in true Raven Hill fashion, I square my shoulders, look him dead in the eyes, and let him pull me to a stand in front of him.

“You look like a slut, little bird,” he growls, his eyes raking over my form. “Just don’t fucking act like one in public.”

He leaves the bathroom, leaving me to the tears that want to fall. I won’t cry for him. I haven’t in a week now, and I don’t want to restart the process of grieving my best friend.
