I could jump for joy knowing Pavvo has found a solution for Ava and me. What a relief! I feel as light as a feather with Pavvo providing protection for us.

Not that we’ll be anything other than engaged. But I bet that alone will keep Kyle’s parents in check. No way am I going to spend a year of my life with them breathing down my neck. How dare they even think of scooping Ava away from me?

It’s close to Ava’s bedtime when Pavvo leaves. He sure loved that homemade soup. He’s a bachelor and I have a feeling he doesn’t cook. His favorite foods are menu items from places I can’t afford to go to, not even if it is for a special occasion.

I give Ava a bath after Pavvo leaves and she has fun sitting in her bubble bath playing with her plastic toy fish and a few plastic dolls in swimming suits.

I pick up some fish that squirt water and I squirt her belly which causes her to giggle. I do this several times before I wash her thick blond hair that’s grown to her shoulders.

I want her carefree childhood to continue. A court battle and child service agencies will only cause more trauma in a childhood void of a Father figure.

There’s no point in telling her that her Father passed away. She never knew him, and it would only confuse her. When she’s older I’ll tell her about him, and make sure she knows he loved to play soccer.

“Where is Ovo?” She surprises me with the question.

Surely she means Pavvo. Did I commit an ‘oops’ introducing her to Pavvo?

I don’t know what the future will bring but as long as Ava and I are together we’ll be fine.

“He went home, baby. We’ll see him soon.”

“How soon?”

“I’m not sure.”

“I like him,” she states this while she makes the fish swim through the water and I wonder if she knows what she’s saying.

Ava continues to play in the bubbles and by the time I’m done rinsing her hair the water is cold.

“Time to get out.”

“No,” she sits.

“Yes, Ava, the water is cold.”

“Mommy,” she whines and rubs her eyes.

I knew she’d be overly tired.

“Come, please,” my voice is firm.

She stands and I help her get out of the tub before drying her off with the thickest towel in the house.

“Be good and we’ll have story time.”

I can’t believe how big she’s getting. I dress her in her jammies that have her favorite princess on it and pull out the hair dryer. It’s getting late and I like to keep her on her schedule.

“Otay,” she complies, and I fan out her growing hair with my fingers before I blow it dry.

With her hair dry we race each other to our room, and we lie in my bed so I can read one of her favorite stories to her. She loves the one about the big yellow bird getting a home.

Wouldn’t that be nice? To have a home of our own.

I wonder just what this arranged marriage to Pavvo entails.
