I’m not quite sure what just happened, but as we leave the infinity room, I feel like I’m floating. Digi’s got that gobsmacked look on his face again, and every time he looks at me, it’s like his head is still in space. He’s not blinking. For once. Just walking along in a daze, and I wonder for just a moment whether I’ve broken him.

“Gram!” Yarran jogs over, concern wrinkling his eyebrows. “Have you seen this?”

He shoves his mobile under my nose, displaying the Webcon feed. There are hundreds of comments, and I’m not quite sure what it is I’m meant to be looking at when my name jumps out. Again and again.

I push his phone away. “I don’t need to.”

“Mate, it’s getting pretty intense.”

“Whatever some rancid wanna-be has apparently exposed doesn’t interest me. I can handle it.”

Archie clears his throat. “This isn’t just about you though.” His pitying gaze flicks to Digi and quickly back to me, but it’s enough to know exactly what he’s talking about. If someone has said something—anything—about Digi, they’d better have done a foolproof job of hiding.

It’s about the only thing that could push my curiosity over, and when I quickly pull out my mobile and find the exact post, what I’m seeing twists my stomach.

There are photos of me and Digi. And as what I’m looking at sinks in, my anger flares up, overriding all rational thought.

The first photo is a screen grab from our original channel, me looking at him like he’s a bloody angel. Next is a still from security footage, when I’d approached him in a hallway and kissed him for the first time. The next is a shot of him pushing me away. There’s a link to the actual footage. Another photo of us walking together. Another of us eating together. Our hug from just a few nights ago when we’d first seen each other again, and then …

A photo from my hotel room.

Last year.

When I’d filled Digi’s room with crickets and he’d decided to spend the night with me. It had been mostly innocent, except for that one moment where I’d goaded him into kissing me. This photo makes it look like so much more.

Where the bloody hell did this photo come from?

My hand is shaking so much I can barely read the caption.

Gram Saito and Digi Lynch’s feud has been hot news for years. They’ve led their fans to believe in their hatred, they’ve fanned the flames of bullying online. Encouraged it. Pitted you all against each other. Instead of bringing the community together, they’ve torn you all apart with their lies. And when I thought they’d finally given up on this online hate culture, they’re at it again with their carefully contrived video set to draw in the Digits, the Grammies, and the Drams. They’re laughing at you. Like they have been for years. Want proof? Just check the date stamps on those photos.

I swear the blood drains from my face as I turn to Digi. He’s already scrolled through his phone, lips silently forming the words as he reads.
