They walked home shoulder to shoulder, if not hand in hand. Since her house was the first one they came to, they turned up the driveway as if it had been agreed upon ahead of time.

Melanie felt a sweep of nerves hit her when the front door shut behind them. She turned to see him taking up all the space in the entryway. “Would you like something to drink? Water? Coffee? Beer? Wi—”

Nick slid his hand around the back of her neck and tugged her close. “I’m not thirsty. Except for you.” He captured her mouth again, and she melted against him. Her nerves were gone in an instant, and desire was all that was left.

“Let’s go upstairs.”

“Do we need to bet for who gets to be on top?” His eyes sparked with amusement. He dipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a quarter. “Heads or tails?”

She held back a laugh and snatched the coin from his hand. “Some things don’t need a wager.” She led him into her bedroom. “Let’s go with what feels right.”

“I know what feels right. You.” Nick scooped her into his arms, and she squealed before he dropped her on the king-size bed.

She kicked off her sandals and grinned at Nick. “Come here.”

That crooked grin was one of the sexiest things she’d ever seen in her life. Her heart pounded as she rose up on her knees at the edge of the mattress. When Nick got close enough, she curled her fingertips between his waistband and the warmth of his stomach.

“Come here,” she repeated, tugging him closer until his legs hit the edge of the mattress.

He took her chin in his hand and held her while he brushed his lips over hers. “I love kissing you.”

“You’re a very good kisser,” she told him, then lightly scraped his bottom lip with her teeth. “But I want more now.” She unfastened his waistband and slowly lowered the zipper. His shorts fell to the floor.

He caught her hands and winked. “Now who’s getting greedy?”

She squeezed his hands, then let him go and nodded at the nightstand. “Open that drawer.”

“Ah ha.” He pulled out the box of condoms she’d bought while doing some wishful thinking. He slid one out and put the rest back. “You’re prepared.”

She made to pluck it out of his hand. “Let me.”

“Not so fast.” He tossed the packet onto the middle of the bed. “Need to take care of all these clothes first.” He caught the hem of her soft tee. She shivered when one fingertip brushed along her stomach. “May I?”

“Of course.” She lifted her arms as he stripped her of her shirt. He sighed with obvious appreciation. She held his gaze as she reached behind her and unhooked her bra, slipped it off, and tossed it to the floor.

“You’re beautiful,” he breathed, the words sending delighted shivers along her skin. Without breaking eye contact, he cupped both breasts and teased her nipples with his thumbs. Arousal spiked through her body, and she closed her eyes, arching back with the sensations.
