“DROP IT, NOODLE!” yelled Sol.

“COME BACK, NOODLE!” yelled Callum.

“HERE, BOY!” yelled Shakira.

The only trouble was that by now Noodle thought that chasing golf balls around the crazy golf course was the best game ever. Even better than chasing after sticks. Or squirrels. Or running around in circles trying to catch his own tail.

And the more fuss that people made, the more he wanted to do it. Nothing was going to stop him. They could yell and shout as much as they liked. Noodle was just going to keep on doing it. And doing it. And doing it. Until all of a sudden, he vanished.

“Where’s he gone?” said Marty.

Everyone looked around. But Noodle was nowhere to be seen. He’d vanished into thin air.

Suddenly no one was cross any more. Everyone was worried. Everything went quiet. But not for long.

“WOOF!” said Noodle, his furry snout sticking out of the tunnel. “WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!”

Everyone laughed. They were so happy that Noodle was safe. How could you be cross with Noodle the doodle?

“Come here, you,” said Mr Reed. “Time to get you back on your lead!”
