“Where do you think she is?” Francine asked Lola. They were back on the same floor in front of the arcade entrance in case Kara had come looking for them. “I’m pretty sure we searched all the restrooms on each floor. We didn’t see her walking around anywhere, either.”

Lola was clearly frustrated. Her arms were crossed and her jaw was tight as she gazed around. It seemed Kara was messing up her carefully thought-out plans.

“I don’t know, but when I find her I’m going to tell her how inconsiderate she’s being.” Lola waved her phone around. “She’s even ignoring my texts and calls. I mean, we all had fun today, right?”

Francine nodded. “Yeah.”

“So why is Kara always against having fun with us? Why is she messing around and ignoring us now? What did we do to her to deserve this? If she didn’t want to come today, all she had to do was tell us. I mean, she’s not afraid to tell us anything else on her mind.”

Francine ignored this, too used to Lola’s and Kara’s complaints about each other.

Lola’s phone pinged with a message.

“Is it Kara?” Francine asked, hopeful.

Lola shook her head. “Oh shoot, it’s my brother. He’s waiting outside. What do I say?” Lola stared at Francine with wide eyes. She looked nervous, uncertain. “Why is Kara messing around?”

Francine blinked in surprise. Lola was asking her what to do? Lola always knew what to do. “Um, well, you’ll have to tell him the truth. That we got separated when Kara went to the restroom and now we’re looking for her.”

Lola nodded slowly. “Right. Good idea.”

“And I’ve been hearing the intercom all day, announcing lost kids. We’ll have them call Kara to meet us. Then you can tell her how inconsiderate she was being.”

Lola smiled as she texted her brother. “Okay, thanks, Francine. That sounds like a good plan. But I probably won’t tell Kara off. I don’t want to get into an argument and mess up our friendship.” Then she met Francine’s eyes. “Don’t tell her, okay?”

Francine smiled. “Sure. Come on, let’s go to the information center. Everything will be okay.”
