I may not agree with Clara about Rayna, but maybe she has a point about Carson. He made a nice gesture, sending me balloons, and I banished them to another room. Not that he knows that. All he knows is I didn’t respond. For four days now.

I guess it would only be polite to thank him for the balloons, as much as it galls me. I locate his profile—I never followed him—and open a private message. What to say . . . ​Best to keep it simple.

My thumb hovers over the Send icon. I feel like I’m opening a whole can of worms here, voluntarily engaging in conversation with Carson. Should I also thank him for helping me the day I broke my foot? Or even—I squirm—apologize for being so rude when he did?

At least I can be sure act two won’t show me anything else about Carson since he left Bridgeport Days. But I hate how confused this has left me.
