Chapter 10 - Mongolian Joy

The next morning I woke with a fuzzy head and rubbed my temples to try to remember something important from the previous night. The headache was unbearable. How much did we drink yesterday? I downed two glasses of water and then I recalled: "Johnny is found!"

I called Arthur, talking with my eyes closed and my other hand alternating between rubbing my temples and the nape of my neck, as the only way to cope with the devastating hangover I was experiencing.

"He's in Mongolia, would you believe? Probably because it doesn't have many extradition treaties."

Arthur was as sharp as a razor.

I hung up after what was a very quick call, and ordered breakfast to be sent up to me. It helped a bit so I called Arthur back and told him to be ready to move on and vacate our Polish hotel since we wouldn't be coming back. I then called Masha, and suggested we meet up in London in a few days time. Things were developing too fast for her to be located as far away as the Cayman Islands, and besides that, Watford United's next home game was to be played the next week, and after our glorious Champions League victory, I wanted to be there to congratulate my team, and to lap up the adoration of the supporters. Before all that could happen, there was a little side trip to be made to see my long lost financial guru. The prospect amused me more than anything. When the fuck did Johnny grow such a huge set of balls?

Arthur showed me the video footage he'd been sent, once we were seated on the flight to Ulan Bator. Yeah, I recognised him, although he'd altered much of his appearance. The disguise of a beard and bushy moustache made him look like Karl Marx, but it was still my old friend Johnny. He thought that was enough, so he hadn't gone for cosmetic surgery to change his face and overall appearance.

I wanted to have my fun first. On the video he was disembarking from a large jeep, so I told Arthur that once we caught up with him, he should take a canister of gasoline, pour it on Johnny's car when he stopped for a red light, and light it. From Arthur's grin I understood that he liked the idea.

The seven hour flight dragged on, I was filled with nervous excitement for what was to come. Eventually the announcement that we were descending in preparation to land was made, and I smiled inwardly. I couldn’t wait to see my old friend's face when I caught up with him. Soon enough after landing at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, we cleared customs and immigration and exited the surprisingly modern terminal. We drove to where Johnny was supposed to be lying low; Arthur and I were in one car, while Arthur's men waited in two others. We all sat there for a couple of hours in freezing conditions until I was on the verge of giving up for the night.
