If you’ve followed the Blue Ridge Parkway to this point, you’ll be coming into Gatlinburg along U.S. 441 through the national park; on this route, one minute you’re in the park, and the next revolution of the wheels you’re in Gatlinburg.
For those arriving from the north or west, I-40 is the most convenient road into town. Leave the interstate at exit 407 and hop on U.S. 66 south, a road that feeds into U.S. 441 and leads into Gatlinburg. This is the easiest and most heavily traveled route into town from I-40. You can avoid the peak-season crowds by taking exit 435 near Knoxville (an hour away) and following U.S. 321 south into Gatlinburg.
From the east on I-40, the best bet is to take exit 443 and drive along the beautiful Foothills Parkway to U.S. 321 south, and cruise right into town.
