“Not Chasing Amy again.”

Monday frowned and stood on her tiptoes to look at Ravi over the video store's shelf. They were the only two in the store other than the bored clerk behind the desk. Monday was sure the place would go out of business any day now, which of course made Ravi want to go all the time.

“It’s Friday,” Monday said. “Friday is Kevin Smith night." Her eyes glanced to the DVD box in her hand. "Besides, Chasing Amy is about two best friends that get together.”

“Yeah and break up horribly in the end," Ravi reminded her. "I think we should change Friday night to remake night. We’ll watch the original of a movie, followed by its often-inadequate remake.”

Monday shelved the DVD case, her mind already scanning through the possibilities of movie combinations. “I like it.” She came around the shelf to grab his wrist. “And we’ll start where remakes breed like rabbits: the horror movies.”

Ravi smiled as they moved toward the section of the video store that displayed movie cases decorated with bloody weapons and screaming teenagers. “Too bad we didn’t have this idea on Halloween,” he said. His eyes moved over the titles, searching for two of the same. “We could have watched, well, Halloween.”

“Ravi, we didn’t really know each other that well on Halloween. We were still in the you’re-never-coming-over phase of our relationship.”

Ravi looked startled. “Oh yeah.” He shook his head. “Wow. Was there really a time in my life I didn’t know you existed?”

She knew what he meant. The Before Ravi portion of her life felt bizarre and removed from her present self.

She held up two movies. “What about Dawn of the Dead?”

“Good choice. Are we pulling an all-nighter with this?”

“We can. Were you going to stay over?”

“Well, I guess that depends on what your dad has to say about it. I mean, he might look at me a little different, now that we’re dating.”

Monday bit her lip and turned to continue looking over the shelves.

Ravi laughed. “You didn’t tell him we were together, did you?”

“It’s only been a day!” she said in her defense.

The laughter faded out of his voice. “You really think he’ll have a problem with it?” Ravi asked. “I mean, he let you date a twenty-year-old. How much more damage could I do?”

“I told you. Titan was a family friend, which makes what he did harder for my dad and Jericho to swallow. I don't know how they’re going to react to me seeing someone else so soon after, even though it’s you.”

Especially because it’s you, she didn’t add. Her dad and Jericho were remarkably understanding about Monday getting close to a human, an outsider with no connection to the pack whatsoever. But dating one, well that was a different matter. It was an issue that weighed on Monday’s mind whenever she wasn’t with Ravi, which, lately, meant classes and using the bathroom. She knew it would be impossible to keep it up forever, one way or another. Her family
