FROM SÃO JORGE

There are around half a dozen weekly ferry links between the Velas ferry terminal (Cais Velas; tel. 295 412 047) on São Jorge and Pico (to both Madalena and São Roque). Sail time from Velas to Madalena is 1 hour and 40 minutes, and 1 hour to São Roque. Tickets prices range €10-16 one-way. The daily ferry, the Green Line, is operated by Atlanticoline (tel. 707 201 572; www.atlanticoline.pt).

FROM FAIAL

Sailings to Pico are more frequent from Faial’s main town, Horta (Avenida 25 de Abril; tel. 292 292 132; https://portosdosacores.pt), with around 50 ferry links a week. The ferry from Horta to São Roque runs four times per week and takes around 1 hour 20 minutes; the ferry between Horta and Madalena sails about six times daily and takes 30 minutes. One-way prices between Faial and both ports on Pico are usually under €5. Crossings are operated by Atlanticoline (tel. 707 201 572; www.atlanticoline.pt) on the Blue Line or the Green Line.
