Dutch Butter Bars

These simple bars are so good they’ll keep calling you back for another one.

1 cup butter

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup sugar

4 eggs

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

MAKES 18

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix butter, sugars, and eggs well. Add vanilla and dry ingredients.

Put in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Blonde Brownies

Blonde brownies are the perfect combination of a chewy brownie and a chocolate chip cookie.

⅓ cup butter

⅓ cup shortening

2 cups brown sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
