While her mother sat in the sweltering living room and sipped hot tea, Aurora sat on the bed in the guest room and heard the latest piece of information that rocked her sense of reality. âWhat do you mean you felt me?â
âYou know how before and during orgasm thereâs extra⦠tightness?â
âYeah,â Aurora answered matter-of-factly. âBut I donât see how that relates. Your fingers were,â she cupped her breasts, âother places.â
âMy point exactly! I felt you with Biddie⦠I think.â
That didnât mean. . . did it?
âHold on,â Aurora said with her hands waving. âThereâs a big difference between thinking and knowing here. Thinking implies doubt, but knowing implies, well, you know what knowing implies, right?â
âThat Biddie came to life like a pornographic snowman. And I know how ludicrous I sound. Butâ¦â Leela placed her hands on her hips and shook her head. âI felt you. Iâm sure of it.â
Aurora agreed that this idea was even more out there than her parthenogenesis theory, but unlike that event, with this, there had to be some kind of proof. âDo you remember feeling anything other than me?â
Leela skewed her mouth. âI had some muscle cramping, but then you got on top and I was fine.â
She remembered changing positions very well. There had to be something else. âDid Biddie look different?â
âUm, not really visible. And then you took it out of the o-ring. Did it look or feel different to you?â
Aurora shook her head. âThe room was dark. But in the morning when you cleaned and packed it?â
Leela shrugged. âLooked the same. In all its ridged, purple glory.â
She thought about what else could explain Leelaâs observation, but she hit another roadblock. Luckily, there was someone close to her who was an expert at thinking outside the box. Aurora slapped her thighs and stood. âWe have to tell Mom.â
Leela rushed to the door and blocked her exit. âNo, no, no. Thatâs next-level sex information. I donât want her to know Iâm the top.â
âDo you want answers or not?â Aurora asked with her hand on the doorknob. âBesides, everyone already knows youâre the top.â
When Leela sighed and stepped to the side, she strode into the living room, where her mother had her laptop open on the coffee table. âThereâs been a revelation of sorts.â
âOh?â Ani said and closed the laptop. âWhat did you learn?â
Aurora looked to Leela, who shook her head. âI canât be here. Iâll be in the bathroom,â she said and then turned away.
Once the door to the bathroom latched shut. Ani turned to her. âLeelaâs much shyer about sex than I would have imagined. I guess her parents werenât very open with the topic.â
âThatâs one way of putting it.â
Early in their relationship, Leela had shared that there had been no sex talk. Rather, when she was eleven, her parents had arranged office visits for a gynecologist and a proctologist so they could give her a sex talk. She had learned a tremendous amount about anatomy and diseases, but that was the extent of her formal education.
