Riley walked into the kitchen, “You two had better sort yourselves out and get in here. Fox wants a conference call to go over what they’ve discovered at HQ.”

“What’s the latest you’ve trawled up on the dead people on the island and Monica? How much more time do you need, for fuck’s sake?” Mac grumbled.

“Come into the other room, and I’ll tell you what I know so far, but cut us some slack. We’ve got limited resources here, and HQ has most of the forensics.”

The three men returned to the main room. Christina looked up from her PC as Mac slumped down in the chair next to her. Riley moved to his desk and stood looking at papers. Finn paced up and down in front of the TV monitors, occasionally looking at the large central one expecting Fox to appear at any moment.

“When’s that arrogant prick going to grace us with his presence?” Finn grumbled.

Mac shouted back, “Come and sit down, Finn. You know these top brass guys like to keep plebs like us waiting. It adds to their feeling of self-importance.”

Finn walked to Riley’s desk and asked, “Tell me what you know about Monica,” Finn urged. “She’s the only thing we’ve got left to go on. We need to know how she fits in with the German mercenaries. She’s not in charge but is obviously a major player.”

“That’s if Monica’s her real name,” Mac mumbled.

“Okay, point taken. How about DNA from the motorbike she left at the abandoned airfield and the personal crap left on the island? Surely, that would confirm her real identity and possibly some of the people she’s running with. In addition, what about the damn aeroplane. It must have gone somewhere.”

“Calm down, Finn,” Riley advised. “I’m just gathering the data. I’ll come to Monica in a moment.”

“Don’t tell me to calm down,” Finn exploded. “Just remember who you’re talking to. I’m an officer in the Army, and you’ll show me some respect. I’m here at the request of Fox. He gave me a mission to complete, and your job is to help me instead of sitting here on your arse doing nothing and waiting for people to get back to you.”

Mac jumped up from his seat and pulled Finn back as he clenched his fists, “Okay, buddy, let’s take a breather. You’ve hardly slept in three days, so it’s no wonder you’re a bit touchy and feeling angry. These guys do a lot more than sitting around, and if you think about it, they’ve not had much sleep either.”

“Fine!” Finn exclaimed while holding his hands up and backing away from the intelligence officer. “Can we just get on with it?”

Mac turned angrily to Riley, “And you watch your mouth in future.”

Riley shrugged his shoulders and moaned, “If you let me speak,” then collected some paper from his desk, “Monica Geist. A twenty-nine-year-old IT expert. She graduated from Dresden University with a First in Computer Sciences. Afterwards, she fell off the grid, most likely recruited into German Intelligence.
