Warbat Bil Qishta
This is a crunchy, buttery Arabic sweet made with several folded layers of phyllo dough, then stuffed to the brim with homemade qishta and a drizzle of simple sugar syrup and garnished with crushed pistachios. Think of it like baklawa minus the nut stuffing and instead there is a layer of thick clotted cream. It is mostly popular throughout the month of Ramadan. I started making them at home a few years ago after I wanted to make an easier, lighter version of baklawa. You simply cannot go wrong with warbat.
