Whenever you select a shape, the Format ribbon appears. You can easily figure out what most of the commands do on your own. I’ll take some time to cover a few items that are not self-evident.

Alignment

Sometimes SmartArt isn’t enough for your model. If you have a very complex hierarchy or diagram that you need, there’s a chance that you won’t find the right pre-built image. In these cases, you will need to draw your shapes and then connect them manually. Afterwards, you will have to align them. I have seen people spend hours aligning shapes, trying to get them just right. A tiny move left, then a bit right, then they overshot, so they try again.
