“Whatcha you doin’?” Barbie’s bubbly voice blared through my phone.

“Not much. Teddy just left. So, it’s safe for you to come home now.” I laughed.

“Well, that’s good, because I had one fantastic night of sex with Beau. I’m on my way home now. So I guess it went well for both of us?” She questioned. “I need details. I’ll share if you share.”

“I don’t screw and tell.”

“Hey, I have to stay in the know with current events to be best-friends-ready for any situations that may, or may not, arise in the future.”

“Right, nosy Barbie. Can you hear the sarcasm through the phone?” I stretched out on my bed.

“Hey, I know what we should do.”

“Let’s hear it. What’s the next grand adventure for Barbie and Mia?”

“We should have a double date tonight,” she suggested.

I hesitated, suddenly longing for the freedom she and her boyfriend possessed. To be together in public, not keeping Teddy and I a secret, I wanted what she had.

“I wish we could.”

What would it be like to actually go out in public together like a proper couple? Ones who held hands walking down the sidewalk, or stole little kisses from each other unashamedly regardless of who was around.

“Ugh, little Miss Goodie Two-shoes. Yeah, yeah, you want to keep your job and all that. I get it, but you are still going to live life, Mia. Listen, Beau and I will take you out, anyway. Solo, I guess. We’ll go to Diego’s, so none of us have to drive.”

“All right, that sounds good. Thanks Barbie, I’ll see you when you get here. I’m going to hop in the shower and then take a nap.”

“Oh, I bet you are exhausted and need your rest,” she said and laughed through every word.

“Shut up, and wake me up when you get here so we can get ready.”

My eyes felt like they were only closed for a second before Barbie arrived. “Wakey, wakey! Your beauty rest is over, and it’s time to hit the town!”

“We’re only going to Mi Casa,” I groaned and covered my head as I rolled over, feeling every sore muscle in my body from contracting and straining during so many orgasms with Teddy.

“Oh, but it’s Saturday, and I looked it up on your brother’s website. There’s going to be a new DJ mixing tonight. The beats will be on point and we’ll be dancing the night away. Now, Beau will be here in thirty minutes to walk over with us, so your not-so-perky little ass better be ready,” she said, and bounced out of the room.

True to her word, her boyfriend was there on time, and as soon as we got to the bar, we made our way to the family seating area. At least, that’s what I nicknamed the end of the bar that divided the front of the room’s seating from the back of the room’s dance hall.

“Hi, Hermanito,” I greeted Diego as he immediately walked over to us from behind the bar.
