I was thrilled, talking to Jack was like talking to my best friend. He was smart, funny, and great looking. Other than the odd sense of mystery and secrecy about him which I still couldn’t shake, he made me smile.

One minute he was friendly and giving, open and forthcoming and then like some rogue AI he went quiet and thoughtful, secretive and shared nothing. I thought this might be some cruel game but realized it was probably just who he was as a man. Some men were more guarded and shared little because they had little to say.

Still everything but that felt perfect, and I was falling harder for him than I intended to do. I wanted more, to spend more time with him, to be in his bed or he in mine, to hear his voice, hold his hand, it was joyful and yet frightening all in the same breath.

I took out my frustration on the dough. Here I was thinking he was going to ask me out again or at the very least mention that he’d had a great time too and wanted to go out again, but he didn't. I smiled and tried to bury that thought. “My credit is awful. Next question.”

“What about your finances, do you have outstanding loans, personal or business, anything that would be considered an expense that would reflect badly on you?”

He was bugging me; I was eager to solve my financial issues and find a solution to my problem so I could get a loan for the second bakery I wanted to open but now was not the time. Irritated and trying my hardest to be polite because I really wanted to see this man again I stopped what I was doing, dusted my hands off and walked towards him.

“My finances are a mess like everything else, let’s just say I suck at financial matters even though I run a successful business and the sooner I can hire someone to take charge of that the better. Enough about that, I want to have some fun,
