We can live the Mystery of the People of God by recognizing our responsibilities and obligations required under the covenant God made through Jesus Christ. The terms of this new covenant are easy to understand: to love God and love your neighbor. However, these terms are not always easy to fulfill.

How well do you live up to the requirements of this new covenant? Do you find yourself limiting your definition of who God is, who your neighbors are, and what love actually requires of you? In what ways is your love conditioned on particular images of or ideas about God or concepts of people’s worthiness?

After you have identified those limitations, discern ways God is calling you to expand your understanding about what the true requirements of love are and how you might fulfill them. Ask for whatever grace you need to let go of old patterns of thinking, acting, and being so you can love others as Jesus loves you.
