trampled to near death by wildebeests

at union station

the bruised and broken student

seeks out grassy plains

to make art

and be merry—

through wheat and plastic

but she is no match.

she trips

the jackals tear away at

grinning

before dry cleaning

as she lies bleeding, one last thought

before darkness takes her
