THE THING ABOUT THIS party is that it’s always the highlight of the summer. All the outfits are creative, and everyone spends it making a ton of content. And because the cameras are rolling, Kaia stays by my side all night to avoid fans speculating simply because we were seen apart. Well, aside from when we’re filming content too.

The energy in the room is contagious, with everyone in a great mood. I’ve got one arm draped around Kaia and a beer in my other hand. I don’t think I could have asked for a more perfect night.

“Declan Royce, you are my favorite person of the week,” Maisee says. “Have I told you you’re amazing?”

“No, but it doesn’t hurt to hear.” I tip my beer toward her. “Mind telling me why, though?”

She turns her phone around to show me her Swype account. “I’ve gained over a hundred thousand more followers from your little stunt in last night’s video.”

“Holy shit.” Kaia grabs her phone. “Seriously?”

I glance over to see that video has a hundred million views, the most we’ve ever gotten.

“The comments have been blowing up constantly. It was even used by TMZ,” Maisee tells us.

“Good job blocking Kaia’s shocked face, by the way,” Lux chimes in quietly.

Kaia rolls her eyes with a smile. “Can you blame me? It was the last thing I expected to happen.”

“I think that’s what made it so great,” Maisee adds. “The shock factor of it.”

Her phone dings and she perks up, telling us she’ll be right back before heading out of the room.

“So, how are you going to top that one, Dex?” Rhys asks. “A hundred mil is going to be hard to beat.”

He has a point. I’ve been posting on the platform for years, and I’ve never come close to numbers anywhere near that on my own. Each of my videos get a few million, but that’s another level.

“I’m sure I’ll come up with something.”

Though next time, I’ll make sure to do it on my own account. The payday Maisee is going to get from that video will be her best yet, let alone the followers she gained.

Speak of the devil…

She comes back into the room with an older woman in tow. As soon as they get close enough, she zeros in on Kaia.

“Lauren, this is Kaia Blakely. Kaia, this is my agent, Lauren.”

Lauren puts her hand out to shake Kaia’s. “It’s very nice to meet you, Kaia. I’m sorry to interrupt your party. I just got back in town and wanted to make sure to meet you as soon as possible.”

“You wanted to meet me?” Kaia asks. “Why?”

Lauren smiles softly. “Have you ever considered modeling?”

Kaia drops her eyes to the floor and shakes her head. “No, not really.”

“Well, you should. You’ve got the perfect look for it.”

Her eyes widen in surprise as she looks back up at Lauren. “Seriously?”

It’s almost adorable, the way she has no idea just how gorgeous she is. I think that’s why her sudden success is such a shock to her.
