Chapter Fifteen

Do you trust me?

The next day I found myself tired of being cooped up in the room all day yesterday so I decided to force Archer to come with me for a walk. I figured we could go to the store to pick up something other than tavern food. He reluctantly agreed to come with me even though I knew it made him nervous, and that’s how we found ourselves walking side by side down the cobblestone walkway.

I’m actually surprised the guys didn’t fight to come with us. I think they were trying to give Archer and me alone time. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. I understood we needed time alone, but Archer also needed to feel like he’s a part of the pack as well.

I curled my hand around his big hand, and his gaze darted down to our interlocked hands. He gave me a soft smile, and faced forward once more. It’s not too busy out today, which makes me happy, because I don’t want Archer to become overstimulated. I know he’s still dealing and struggling with being around people again. I believe that little by little he will get better at feeling more comfortable around others again. At least that’s what I hope for him anyways.

“I want a tattoo,” Archer blurts out all of a sudden as we walk past a little tattoo parlor nestled in between little mom and pop shops. My eyes darted up to him as he stared back at the tattoo parlor. His words catch me off guard causing my face to scrunch up in confusion.

“Why a tattoo? Do you know what you want to get,” I ask as I stop and stare at the little window into the parlor.

It looks like a nice little clean shop just like most of the shops around here. From where I’m peering in I can see art all over the walls, and red vinyl chairs. There’s a long black counter in the front with the tattoo shop logo on the front. ‘Ink and Blood,’ is curling in beautiful script lettering.

“Well, no, but I want my experience to be permanently inked on my skin. I want to remember the good, and even the bad,” he says this as his cheeks begin to turn pink, “that sounds stupid doesn’t it?”

“What? No, that’s not stupid Archer. I understand somewhat of how you’re feeling, and it makes sense to me,” I reassure him, because I know to some extent of what he’s going through. That feeling of wanting something permanent to remember it all by.

“Do you trust me,” I ask as I look up into his dark eyes. I try my best not to fidget as I stare into his eyes.

“With everything I am,” he responds without a hint of hesitation. It causes my eyes to burn with emotion, and all I can manage is a curt nod. Having his trust is everything to me.

“Wait here,” I force out past the lump in my throat. He gives me a little hesitant nod, and I turn to walk into the little shop.
