“What the hell you doing, old man?” The young, tattooed biker shot a threatening look at the aged stranger outside The Base’s front gates. “The kids here aren’t for sale, you fucking perv—now get lost before I cut off your dick and shove it up your ass.”

The older man recoiled, taking a couple of steps back. “I… I’m homeless,” he mumbled, “I didn’t know that made me a perv. And I don’t know what kids you’re talking about.” He looked around, a shadow of desperation in his weary eyes. “What… what kind of place is this? I’m just looking for a job—any job. I’m not picky, I’ll do anything.” He met the guard’s rigid stare, and nodded slowly, half raising his hands. “I’ll go. I’m… I’m sorry to have bothered you.”

“Hey, wait!” A second, stout guard sauntered over. “C’mon, Giles, check him out.” He snorted. “I’d bet my left nut this poor fucker ain’t got a dick—his ugly wife probably castrated his ass for cheating with a hot little number, just before bootin’ his sorry ass out the door.” The crude remark from the buff guard with the short, thick neck made the others laugh.

“Come on back.” The first guard gestured at the old man as he unlocked the gates. “I’m sure Seymour or Dunstan can find something for you. If nothing else, we can always use someone to take out the trash and clean the shitters.” He smirked as his heavy eyes surveyed the stranger. “Yeah, you look like the man for the job.”

“Thank you,” the man replied in a hoarse voice as he entered the gates. “I’ll never forget your… generosity.” His eyes flickered across the faces of each guard. “I hope to repay you one day,” he mumbled as he limped away toward the central yard.

The old man didn’t look back as he left the chortling guards behind him.
