Clearly, the goal of the advertisement would be to improve people’s attitudes toward the product; that is, there should be more people in category 3 than category 2. The corresponding one-sided hypotheses reflecting this goal are as follows:

H0: The probability of a subject having a favorable response to the product before viewing the advertisement and an unfavorable response afterward is equal to the probability of having an unfavorable response to the product before viewing the advertisement and a favorable response afterward.

Ha: The probability of a subject having a favorable response to the product before viewing the advertisement and an unfavorable response afterward is less than the probability of having an unfavorable response to the product before viewing the advertisement and a favorable response afterward.
