ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Gretchen Petterway, affectionately referred to as Dr. G, Dr. Pepper, and Dr. Gretchen by her patients, has practiced pediatrics for nearly a decade. She is an author, motivational speaker, and, to her mind, most importantly a mom. She has witnessed an exponential rise in children presenting with negative self-images coupled with an alarming increase in mental-health-related concerns, especially within the first decade of life.

Dr. Petterway suffered with a negative self-image for the majority of her life, with its origins deeply rooted in her childhood. It is only recently, through counseling, that she is working toward an improved self-image. As a “Doc-Mom,” she is passionate about approaching every clinical decision from two perspectives: as a physician and as a mom. One of her life’s passions is to build a positive self-image within her sons, along with her patients. I Am Cool is a product of her passion and is the first book a series addressing these issues.

Dr. Petterway is a board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is married to Felton and has two sons, Dillan and David. She resides in Shreveport, Louisiana.
