Scratch Interface Overview

Image 8.1

The basic Scratch process involves making sprites (the dragon, in this case) do something. On the right hand side of the interface we see our sprite and from here we may add more sprites or change the appearance of the sprites we are using. We can also build our stage (the area).

In the upper left corner there are modes (Motion, Control, Looks, Sensing, et cetera). These modes group the elements you have available to build your game.

Each sprite has its own set of Scripts, Costumes, and Sounds (the tabs you see near the top of the middle of the screen). We will be sticking mostly to the scripts page for this discussion.
