Indiana-Style Corn Dogs
Indiana always has a reason to party, and over the year, there are lots of festival and State Fairs, and what better finger food is there to enjoy during these occasions than a tasty corn dog.
Servings: 12
Total Time: 30mins
Ingredients:
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• ½ cup yellow cornmeal
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 3 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp ground mustard
• ¼ tsp paprika
• Dash of black pepper
• 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
• 1 cup evaporated milk
• Oil (to fry)
• 12 hot dogs
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk the flour with the cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt, mustard, paprika, and black pepper.
2. Whisk in the egg and evaporated milk until blended.
3. Transfer the batter mixture to a tall glass.
4. In a deep-fat fryer or electric skillet and heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
5. Insert the skewers into the hot dogs.
6. Dip the hot dogs into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
7. In batches, fry the corn dogs until golden brown, for 2-3 minutes, while occasionally turning.
8. Drain the dogs on kitchen paper towel and serve.
