The sun was setting outside. The orange glow had settled over the four of them from the surrounding windows. While the setting was pretty, the mood of the room was anything but. However, even though the information they had uncovered was horrible, they at least had some leads, and Walker had to put them to work immediately if they were going to have a chance to find Amy Turnberry before it was too late.

“Okay, Daniel, do what you can—including calling your dark web friend—to find out who this BaphometsSon is and where they might be. But before you do that, send Ava the picture of the robed people around the fire.” Walker looked at Ava. “See if anyone on your team can decipher the location of that picture. Maybe we can get lucky and someone recognizes something.” Walker addressed everyone now. “Just understand that both of these things are a long shot. Especially in the short time window we are dealing with now. But at least we have something to go on.”

Daniel had already turned and was typing on his computer.

“Let me know you understood everything, Daniel,” Walker said.

Daniel turned around. “Oh, yeah, sorry. I had already been talking to Ricky about this. He just messaged me back.”

“Ricky?” Ava said.

“The one who went into the dark web with me.”

There was a beep from Daniel’s phone. Daniel picked it up and read a message, then looked up at Walker. Walker read his expression as hopeful.

“He already found him.”

“BaphometsSon?” Walker said.

“Yeah!”

“Already? How?”

Daniel read another message, tapped on his phone, then looked back up at Walker. “The moron’s Facebook profile, Bapho666.” Daniel turned the screen of his phone toward Walker. “And his profile picture is Baphomet smoking a joint.”

Walker looked at the Facebook profile. He saw the picture Daniel was talking about, and behind that small one was a bigger rectangular picture of a winged demon with red eyes.

“How did he find him so fast?” Tim asked. “I don’t understand any of this technology shit. Except that it’s the damn devil itself.”

“Ricky is a computer genius,” Daniel said. “But it sounds like this BaphometsSon is exactly the opposite and left an easy trail for Ricky to follow. He’s combing through the Facebook page now to see if BaphometsSon has ever been dumb enough to geotag himself.”

“Geo what?” Tim said.

“Tag a location on a post or a photo,” Daniel said, “showing where you are or where the pic was taken.”

“Why the hell would anyone ever want to do that?” Tim said. “There’s too many crazies out there that will follow you or come and steal your stuff.”

“You’d be surprised,” Ava said. “It’s how we catch people a lot of the time.”

“You’ve actually caught people?” Walker said.

“Ha-ha. Very funny, Mr. Mysterious. You’re probably just some accountant from a little town in Kentucky who thought it would be fun to go try to play hero.”

“Impossible,” Walker said.

“But is it?” Ava said.

“Yeah. ’Cause I hate math.”

The four of them stole a rare laugh from the overwhelmingly somber situation.
